My name is Judy Kimsey and I created this website through MyHeritage.com, which enables anyone like you or me to build a family tree and share family photos. Okay, obligatory part is finished.
This site is for family members whose eyes glaze over when I cite dates or DNA results, mention a second cousin once removed, or pull out pictures of tombstones. But their eyes light up when I tell the stories...about my mother and her cousin who burned down an outhouse smoking grapevine cigarettes..about Daddy Joe (my grandfather) and great Uncle Bill barnstorming and wing-walking in the early years of aviation.. about the gg-grandmother who grabbed an ax and cut off a panther's paw as it tried to come into the kitchen where her children were eating, saving their genes to pass along to future generations.
For serious researchers, there is plenty of sourced information (although I'm still trying to figure out how to add it), a few theories that might interest you, and a number of old photos that might be one of your relatives, too. I'm also planning on uploading various documents.
Because the database is limited to 250 people, my focus is on my direct lines, but I have other information and am willing to share. The primary families are Kimsey (paternal) and Howard and other maternal direct lines. Allied families include Abernathy, Anderson, Bassano, Beougher, Blanckenbeckler/ Beckler, Brewer (3 lines), Cathey, Churchwell, Debord, DeNazzi, DeWeese, Gregg/Gragg, Guinn/Gwinn, Hubble, Kinser, Lanier, Mallicoat, McClure, McIntire, Messer, Palmer, Richardson, Rumfelt, Russell (2 lines), Sanders, Strain, Stump, Trammell, Walcher, West, Wilson and Witcher.
Current Status of Site
It's new. I've entered names and associated basic data (if known) such as birth, marriage and death dates, for most individuals. I'll now start going back through and adding events and documentation as time permits. Watch the News column for updates.
If you see a name of interest, but there's no information yet, please contact me ovde. Chances are, I'll have something for you.
Photos
I have a number of old and not-so-old photos. You are free to use the photos of the dear departed for non-commercial purposes. Please do NOT use photos of those of us still living. Some of the images are from other researchers, and I have yet to figure out how to attribute them. Please contact me so that I can tell you who should get the "courtesy of".

JOSEPH LINDSAY GUINN, Hancock Co. TN, Bell Co. K, and ???
My paternal g-grandfather. My g-grandmother, Margaret Brewer, either divorced him or kicked him out--the family oral history isn't clear about which. My grandmother, Viola Mae Guinn and her sister, Aunt Bobbie saw him infrequently, as did my father and his sibs
Documented facts on Joseph Lindsay Guinn:
Parents: William Allen Guinn, Elizabeth Mallicoat Guinn Source: My great-Aunt Bobbie's diaries and1870 Campbell Co., TN and 1880 Hancock Co. TN censuses.
Born: bet. 1869-1872 Source: 1870 and 1880 censuses above.
Married (1?): Margaret Elizabeth Brewer, probably in Hancock Co. TN (burned county, few records, none for these two).
Confirmed Sibs: Allen, John, Gabriel, Jeff (Jefferson), Amanda (Mandy) Source: Aunt Bobbie's diaries,various census reports. By 1900, Allen, Gabe, Jeff, Mandy and parents are all showing in Bell Co. KY (right above Hancock Co. TN) John and my Joseph are MIA. With no 1890 census and none of them showing on land or voter records, hard to tell when the move took place, but this family seemed to move as a pack.Most of them also appear to have been carpenters
1920: The only other possible sighting of Joseph Linday is on the 1920 census. He shows as Joe L. Guinn, age 42 (which isn't a match, but then, the census data on this family is a mess and it's not that far off) with a wife named Pearl, no children. He's near the other Guinns, and I'm reasonably sure it's my Joe--but it isn't proven.
That's it. I've never seen a picture of him, have no idea when or where he died, or where he is buried. Any help most appreciated
