 Hi family,

         This site is dedicated to living generations of our family.  That was the original plan and it still is.  At this time, I believe that all descendents of William and Pearl Elliott are present and accounted for in our family tree.  Now it is time for stage two.

        As you can see, The Hall brothers have joined our tree, and, yes they are your cousins.  It reminds me that you have many more cousins, not so far removed.  Stage two will be the addition of Mom and Dad's siblings, one of whom is the grandmother of John and Barry Hall.  By adding them in now, I'll be opening the door to "Smart Matches" to trees that any of their descendents may  have created.  If I'm right, this thing is about to grow, but I'll be watching to see that it doesn't grow too big.  It's still a family tree just for us.

        If you are interested in the history of the family, as I am, You might want to view The Hall brothers family tree.  They take the thread back to the 18th century.  Or you might want to view the work that Gord has done on Ancestry.ca, which is even more detailed.  It's hard to see where you're going, if you don't know where you've been.

       Some of you may feel the urge to add your spouse's ancestors to this tree.  I understand that these people are important to your children and grandchildren, but I must remind you that there is only so much room in this project, and I do wish to reserve it for descendents of John Elliott.  I'm sure you can see what would happen to this if each of us was to add, even two or three generations of our spouse's families.  Therefore, I want to limit this aspect of it to the parents of your spouse.

       I would like to offer an alternative, if you will.  Start another project, using this program.  You, your spouse and your children will appear in both trees and My Heritage will notify us of "smart matches" between the two, thus allowing the rest of us to join your new tree, for the purpose of veiwing it.  If you need help with that, call me.  I'd be glad to help.

Hello again family 

        I've changed my mind.  Sight managers are allowed to do that.??  I went to school in Botwood with Elliotts from at least 5 different families.  They are related to me and so to you.  I suddenly want to know more about them and their families, so, although I promised in the beginning to keep this small, I have decided to go back one more generation. 

       This is significant, in that, it is the beginning of the Elliotts in Botwood harbour.  Around 1889 John and Esther Elliott moved from Fogo Island with their sons and their families to take advantage of land grants in the area of Burnt Arm.  Most Elliotts in Botwood can trace their roots to this couple. 

        So have fun with stage three of this project, say hello to your distant cousins, fill in any information you have about our ancestors, and then play it forward, because this sight is still dedicated to present and future generations.                                                               Ron
